Her Time is Now

All right, you've told your story. That's how you remember it. But there's another story: my story. And my story begins with a blood curdling scream. That scream filled the night, making my blood run cold. A shiver of terror ran up my spine as I continued through the woods. The path was lit only by the light of the full moon. But, I didn't need light to know where I was going. I had traversed this path a thousand times before.
Just as I knew the path ahead of me, I knew where that scream had come from. It was her. She was the only one that could produce a sound like that. This here tonight is what we had been preparing for centuries for.
Our entire lives had been leading up to this exact moment. I was both excited and terrified. I was also late, which was, of course, nothing unusual. Tonight of all nights you would think I would have been able to be on time. But, I wouldn't be me if that was the case.
Another scream tore through the night air. I had to hurry. I couldn't miss this. We all had to be together, a complete circle, when the time came. If we weren't ready, it would be another two hundred years before we had another chance.
I could see the clearing up ahead lit by candle light. Everyone else was already in place. I disrobed as I ran to my place in the circle and joined hands with the others, ignoring the withering stares.
I closed my eyes. I could feel her. Her presence was a blanket covering the clearing. Her spirit permeated every inch of the area, along with each of us. Soon enough she would manifest herself in physical form. One of us would be the willing sacrifice, so she would once again walk the Earth in human form.
A third scream echoed through the woods. It was time. Her time was now, and we all waited with bated breath to see who she would choose. No matter who it was, the world would never be the same after tonight.
